At the southern entry point to Hamburg and occupying a former container yard, high-rise residential, commercial and retail is to be developed. Studio Gang together with four other Chicago architects were asked to develop master plans exploring the potentials of the site. Our concept of Grüner Elbe Bogen or the Green Elbe Elbow links the Hafen site with a much larger green ring already planned by the city.

The completion of such a ring in combination with its water access would put Hamburg on par with more famous cities such as Paris and Vienna. High-rises proposed for the site would make visual and structural references to the cranes of the industrial dockland.
