The design for the Highlands Pond House interior was inspired by its natural surroundings. While the house, designed by Antoine Predock, references the geologic character of the mountains, the interiors relate to the temporal aspect of nature at the site.
Furnishings with curvilinear lines add to a sense of flow and movement inside, softening the angular architectural space. Colors were selected to impart the lush qualities of spring and autumn and to create relationships between the interior and the constantly changing exterior landscape. Materials with visible sectional or topographic qualities—such as sliced wood, an ancient stone, or highly textured wool— highlight a sense of wonder for the natural world that is inescapable in Aspen.
